Pre-Activity Survey

1. Have you ever worked in a video conferencing environment previously:

Yes = 5 no = 1

2. What is educational background (primary discipline):

Mostly education (I assume OISE), 1 architect, 1 tech

3. What are your expectations of usefulness/limitations of TB:

Most of them focused on the ability to collaborate in some form, although 3 didn't answer this question

4. Do you have any experiences working on other projects with people int he meeting:

4 out of the 6 respondents had worked with at least one of the other members of the group at least once

Analysis:

  • Overall the users were familiar with video conferencing/digital collaborative tools
  • Most of the participants were coming into the meeting with an educational perspective and with thoughts about the potential educational uses of the TB system
  • Most of the respondents knew and/or had worked with the other members of the group before... it seems reasonable to assume that they were familiar with some of the other participants collaborative styles ~ however this does not mean they knew everybody and only 6 of approximately 12 (check this) members answered the survey.

Post-Activity

1. How did this experience compare to with your expectations/previous experiences:

Frustrating, needs developing, limited

2. How do you think your educational/work background influenced your interaction with TB:

Expected more peer-to-peer, lots of potential, lots of limitations, business not educationally focused

3. Having used TB, what are your thoughts on its usefulness/possible limitations:

Lacks functionality (x2), needs work, is a showboard

Analysis

  • Most of the users were frustrated with the system, either because of its limitations in its technical robustness... it seems that all the problems (limitations, functionality, being limited) stem from this... I think more answers to these questions will come out in the recording and I don't want to read into these answers too much
  • Again only half of the group members completed a survey, so I'm not sure how complete these finding are, but there was a general consensus about TB's problems
